Virtual Classroom
&
Remote Learning Environment

During the time our school was physically closed, our teachers and staff worked incredibly hard to create an effective virtual and remote Montessori learning experience for our students and families, including:

  • A Montessori-based “Learning from Home Handbook” to help our families navigate the new normal of learning from home, including how to set up a Montessori home learning environment and a daily schedule.

  • Hand-crafted weekly Take-Home Activity Packets and Lessons, according to theme and customized for Toddler and Primary classes, including age-appropriate Montessori activities, art, science, and exploration / fun.

  • Zoom Classroom: Self-produced virtual lessons and interactive group time.

  • Weekly Spanish & cultural education materials

  • Ongoing teacher support for parents and children over FaceTime and weekly phone calls.

Guiding Principles & Safety Protocols

To care for our students, parents, teachers and staff during this crisis, we followed a foundational list of guiding principles that we believe secure the success of our school communities. These include the safety of our families; providing quality education to our children; continued dedication by our teachers and staff and making them whole from a compensation perspective; meeting our contractual obligations and fixed expenses; and maintaining flexibility for all parents according to individual circumstances and needs.

During the reopening phase, Arbor Montessori Academy is following the procedures outlined in Governor Abbott's Checklist for Child Care Centers (link), while asking parents to follow the recommended protocols outlined by the governor (link).

Additionally, as a school community during Summer Program, we are taking extra precautions including temperature checks twice daily, change of indoor shoes, frequent hand washing, maximized outdoor time, and distanced separation during individual activity time.
